When I was looking for a remote job, I applied to countless companies, but didn’t even get past the first selection.

I had all technical skills, I felt that the job description fits me, but there was something missing. My application didn’t stand out enough.

So I started experimenting…

Moving my experience around, rewriting my resume/letter in different styles… but nothing worked.

The problem wasn’t my experience or my technical skills. The problem was I didn’t know what a remote company was looking for.

Making sure to communicate your skills effectively.

A remote company wants answers to these questions:

• Does this person have the technical skills required for the job?
• Does this person have the soft skills required for the job?
• Can this person work remotely without daily management?
• Can this person communicate effectively?
• And more…

I started answering these questions, changing my resume to reflect those answers, and like magic, I started getting interviews.

It’s like knowing what these companies are looking for and using that knowledge to better present myself. It’s a blessing.

After a few interviews, I got a remote job. Fantastic feeling!
